If you want to increase community engagement and provide a sense of belonging within your HOA, hosting family-friendly events this summer could do the trick! People love being outside in the sunshine and getting to know their neighbors, so summer events are a win-win!
Let’s look at a few fun events that won’t take too much time to put together and will be great for morale!
Cookouts
Grill some burgers and hot dogs, add some chips with an ice-cold drink, and you’re all set! You can even ask residents to bring a new recipe so they can be involved, too! If you want to take it one step further, have some cornhole boards or lawn games for the kids. A great event where residents can get to know each other and have a nice meal!
Pool Party
Kick off the summer with a pool party! Depending on when you open your pool for the season, you could host it that day and make it a yearly tradition! Throw in some fun pool toys, and play some music, and it’s sure to be a good time! If you don’t have a pool at your HOA, consider renting out an inflatable water slide or having some sprinklers running for the kids!
Movie Night
Most HOAs have a big open common area that would be perfect for a movie night on the lawn! All you need is an outdoor movie screen, and you can provide movie theater concessions like popcorn and candy for your residents. Hosting them once a month with a new movie to premiere would be a fun tradition!
HOA Olympics
This event might take a little more time to organize than the others, but it would be a fantastic annual event that your residents would look forward to! Have your residents sign up in teams or pairs and host an HOA Olympics! You can include sports like basketball, tennis, cornhole, shuffleboard, and more, and have residents compete in each activity. At the end, you can announce the winners and hand out trophies or awards!
