To run a successful HOA, staying connected with residents and keeping them involved in the community is important. Whether you want to inform them of an upcoming event or ask for their feedback, communicating with your residents is essential. Different communication tools can be used for different purposes, so develop a proper HOA strategy before diving into multiple projects at once.

Website

Typically when residents are looking for information regarding their HOA, the first place they’ll look is on the HOA website. You can find lots of important information regarding your HOA, including CC&Rs, plat maps, Board meeting information, policy changes, and more. HOA websites have member access and are a way for residents to submit requests.

Social Media

Social media is a great way to connect with residents, especially since most already use it. If you can only handle one social media page, Facebook is a great option. If you want to tackle a few, try Facebook and Instagram. They’re both great platforms that can be used to promote upcoming events and keep residents in the loop of any changes. Residents can also communicate with each other and ask questions or ask for feedback.

Newsletters

Email tends to be a preferred method of communication that works for all age groups, so creating an email newsletter is a great form of communication. You can include a lot of the same information you might be posting online, but also email newsletters are great ways to spotlight different residents and ask for their feedback. Residents can also look at newsletters at their leisure and refer back to them easily if there’s something they missed. 

Events

Nothing brings your community together quite like an HOA event. Not only do they bring people together and create a sense of community, but they’re great for new residents to meet people and feel welcomed, too. Aiming for at least one event per season is a great place to start, and you can increase the number of events from there.
