The Driskill Hotel
It wouldn’t be a list of Austin’s haunted hot spots without naming one of the most famous locations. The Driskill even has a handout of some of the ghosts that are said to roam the hotel. Civil War Colonel Jesse Driskill, who had the place built and then promptly lost it in a card game, and Peter J. Lawless, who lived in the hotel from 1886 until 1916, are just two of the frequent visitors at the Driskill.
Austin’s Inn at Pearl Street
Originally built in 1896, it was the home of Judge Charles A. Wilcox and family. Over the years, it fell into disrepair until it was bought and renovated into an inn in the 1990s. Since then, there have been several stories claiming to see an apparition of a woman carrying a child throughout the house or sitting in a rocking chair.
Littlefield Home
The Littlefield Home is located on the UT campus. The old Victorian home is said to still be the residence of Alice Littlefield, who lived there with her husband. There are many theories on why the ghost of Alice can still be seen and felt in the home.
Paramount Theatre
The Paramount Theatre is a slice of Austin history, and it’s said to be haunted by many ghosts, making staff members unwilling to be left alone in the building at night. One of the ghosts is said to be that of an old projectionist that will mess with the equipment unless left a gift of a piece of chocolate.
The HandleBar
Besides being one of many people’s favorite bars in the city, it is also said to have been the home of a funeral parlor at one point. Many staff members have claimed that ghosts of an old man and a young girl haunt the building.
