It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the clutter that piles up in your home, especially while we’re spending more time at home than ever. Luckily, we have some simple tips to declutter your home room by room.
Declutter the Kitchen and Dining Room:
- Clear off unnecessary items from the countertops and tables. Sort through the items, throw away items that aren’t needed, and move other items to a more useful place.
- Go through your kitchen drawer by drawer and cupboard by cupboard. Get rid of extra plates, bowls, cups, coffee mugs, kitchen utensils, and pots.
- Get rid of kitchen utensils or appliances you haven’t used in over a year.
- Toss old Tupperware that is damaged or missing a lid.
- Throw away old or expired items in your refrigerator and cupboards.
Declutter the Living Room:
- Get rid of the magazines you’ve already read.
- Go through the items in your living room. If you haven’t used it in a year, it should go.
- Control remotes by grouping them together in a lidded box or decorative bowl.
- Pair down pillows to a max of three.
Declutter the Bathrooms:
- Throw away expired medicine, makeup, and bathroom products.
- Get rid of extra towels and wash rags. You don’t need more than 2 per person.
- Add storage organizers and baskets to organize items under the sink and in the drawers.
Declutter the Bedrooms:
- Go through each piece of clothing in your closet. Keep the items you wear the most often, get rid of everything else.
- Get rid of everything you’ve outgrown and everything that has a hole in it.
- Keep nightstands clear.
- Go through bookcases to get rid of any books you didn’t like or don’t plan to read again.
