Falling in love with the simple things that make Austin beautiful is just one way to stay positive in these uncertain times. The Texas state parks have recently been reopened with new rules and guidelines in place, which has many people excited to get outdoors and enjoy the warm weather. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite places to enjoy the best views of Austin, so you’re ready to explore when it comes time to do so.
Mount Bonnell
As one of Austin’s most historical landmarks, it’s drawn in visitors and residents of Austin for decades. There’s a great hiking trail that has stairways to various lookout points. Watch as the sun rises over the Colorado River and mansions along the river’s edge for a perfect morning.
The Oasis on Lake Travis
The Oasis on Lake Travis is a summer destination hot spot. After spending the afternoon swimming and boating around Lake Travis, head to The Oasis to watch the sunset while sipping on a margarita and catching up with friends. Trust us, the views make the wait for a table worth it.
Pennybacker Bridge
Pennybacker Bridge, also referred to as the 360 Bridge, has a wonderful overlook that gives great views of the bridge and 360-degree views of Austin. The hikes to the lookout points are fairly short, and they give you unobstructed views of how beautiful the city is.
McKinney Falls Scenic Overlook
McKinney Falls State Park is a great place to relax. Take a deep breath and let the stress melt away as you hike, swim, camp, or just enjoy the views.
We hope that you and your family are planning some fun summer activities to tackle in the coming months. Be sure to add these Austin destinations to your list of places to explore and places to show any friends and family that come to visit you this summer.
